My Top 3 Favorite Wearable Breast Pumps (And Why My Clients Love Them Too!)

BY KATIE CLARK, IBCLC

Over the past few years, I’ve seen dozens of wearable breast pumps come to the market. While they can never really replace a quality breast pump like the Spectra S1, many mothers find them to make pumping easier for them. Whether you’re juggling work, caring for older kids, or just trying to reclaim some hands-free freedom, a wearable pump can make all the difference.

It seems like a new one pops up every other day. The major pump companies have started releasing them, mom and pop companies have thrown their hat into the ring, and other random companies have started popping up. And let me tell you – not all wearable pumps are created equal!

After working with countless moms, I’ve noticed that three wearable pumps consistently stand out: the Momcozy M5, Eufy Wearable Breast Pump Pro, and Willow Go. These pumps not only offer convenience but also deliver the best results for milk output, comfort, and ease of use. While I don’t currently pump, I have played around with them, and I think they are solids options.

In this post, I’ll break down the pros and cons of wearable pumps, plus what makes these three options my go-to recommendations.

Pros and Cons of Wearable Breast Pumps

Before we dive into why I chose the three pumps above, here are a few pros and cons to wearable breast pumps:

Pros

Hands-Free & Cord-Free – You can move around, work, do chores, or care for your baby more easily while pumping. No more feeling tied to the couch!
More Discreet – No external tubing or large pump motors make them more low-profile.
Convenient for On-the-Go Moms – Whether commuting, at work, or running errands, wearable pumps offer flexibility.
No Need for a Pumping Bra – Unlike traditional pumps that require a hands-free bra, these fit directly inside your bra.

Cons

Suction May Not Be as Strong as Traditional Pumps – Some moms find that wearables don’t fully replace a hospital-grade pump for maintaining supply.
Flange Limitations – Most wearable pumps only have 21, 24, or 27 flanges and require the use of inserts for anything smaller. Flange inserts aren’t standardized, and most people don’t respond to them as well as hard plastic flanges. I believe this is a leading reason why output isn’t as good
Learning Curve – Finding the right fit and placement can take a few tries.
Battery Life – While portable, some models may need frequent recharging.
Milk Capacity – Many wearable pumps have smaller containers, requiring more frequent emptying.

The Momcozy M5 is a fantastic, affordable option that still delivers solid performance. Many of my clients are surprised at how well it works for the price, making it a great choice for those who want a wearable pump without the hefty price tag.

Pros:

✔️ Compact and Lightweight – Smaller than many wearables, making it comfortable to wear.
✔️ Heating Capability – This is one of the best parts of this pump – its HeatFlow™ technology. It includes a built-in heating element and a precision temperature sensor with a variety of temperature settings to help increase milk flow.
✔️ Multiple Suction Levels – Offers 9 suction settings to customize comfort and effectiveness.
✔️ Quiet Motor – Ideal for discreet pumping.
✔️ Easy to Clean – Simple assembly with fewer parts than some other models.

Cons:

Milk Collection Capacity – Holds 5 oz per side, which may require frequent emptying for those with higher supply.
Suction Strength – While decent, it may not be as strong as higher-end models.
No App Connectivity – Unlike premium options, there’s no app to track pumping sessions.
Reliability – I have more than one mother tell me that after a month, the motor wore out. Thankfully, they have a good warranty, but it’s frustrating to have something stop working after a month
Flange Inserts – The flange tunnel is shorter than some pumps, so it may not work with all insert kits

💡 Best for: Moms on a budget who still want a reliable, wearable pump for daily use.

The Eufy Wearable Breast Pump S1 Pro is a newer player in the market, and it’s quickly becoming a top favorite among my clients. It offers a great balance of comfort, efficiency, and smart features, making it a strong competitor to high-end pumps. The S1 is a lower price point and offers many of the same features, including the heating.

I have a client that tried this pump out for me. She had lower supply with a child in the NICU, and pumping all the time with her Spectra was difficult. Although this pump was less effective than the Spectra, she overall thought it was a great pump and really enjoyed the features. She feels like if someone doesn’t have supply issues, it would likely work really well for them. Some of the pros and cons below are from her experience.

Pros:

✔️ Comfortable & Lightweight – Sits securely in your bra without bulkiness.
✔️ Strong Suction – Provides 7 suction settings that are strong and that you can customize. With this said, my client felt that even though the strength was good, the pull wasn’t as adequate as her Spectra.
✔️ Ultra-Quiet Operation – One of the quietest wearable pumps available. My client confirmed it was quiet enough for her to wear while working.
✔️ Smart App Connectivity – Syncs with the Eufy Baby app for real-time monitoring and remote control. My client loved all the smart features!
✔️ Large Milk Capacity – Holds up to 5 oz per side, reducing the need for frequent emptying.
✔️ Battery Life – The Pro offers up to 5 days of battery life, while the original will stay charged for 4-6 sessions
✔️ Charging Case – The Pro’s case has charging capabilities, making it more convenient than ever to charge

Cons:

Higher Price Point – The original S1 is more than MomCozy and less than the Willow Go – tbe S1 Pro is the most expensive ofthe bunch.
Limited Availability – Since it’s newer, it’s sometimes harder to find in stock.
Slightly Bulkier Than Some Wearables – While still compact, it’s not the smallest option out there.
Somewhat difficult to put together – My client found that the silicone lid was especially tricky.
Lots of pieces to clean

💡 Best for: Moms who want a quiet and smart wearable pump that balances comfort and efficiency and want the added bonus of heat.

The Willow Go is my top recommendation for moms who need a pump that works in any position—whether sitting, standing, or even lying down. It’s a step down from the Willow 360 (which uses spill-proof bags), but it still provides superior leak protection and great suction. Honestly, I think it’s a better option than the Willow 360, though, due to it’s slimer profile and the better overall reviews I hear.

Pros:

✔️ Great Suction Strength – Can compete with traditional pumps in terms of output.
✔️ Works in Any Position – Unlike most wearables, the Willow Go prevents spills even when you’re reclining.
✔️ App Connectivity – Pairs with the Willow app for easy tracking.
✔️ Good Milk Capacity – Holds 5-7 oz per side (depending on the storage container), larger than most wearables.
✔️ Easy to Clean – Fewer parts than the original Willow pump, making it simpler to wash.
✔️ Low Profile – Designed to be a slimmer fit to allow for more discrete pumping
✔️ Trusted Brand – Willow is a trusted brand when it comes to wearable pumps, and they are dedicated to making good products

Cons:

Pricey – One of the more expensive wearables on the market.
Battery Life is Subpar – Lasts for about three pumping sessions before it needs to be recharged (though it claims to do five full sessions).
Milk Spills If Overfilled – While spill-resistant, overfilling can lead to leaks.
Might be TOO intense? – I have one client using the Willow Go who felt it was far too intense, even on the lowest setting

💡 Best for: Moms who want a leak-resistant, high-suction wearable pump that can be used while moving around.

Buy Willow Go

💡 Bonus Option: Baby Buddha Pump with Wearable Cups – The Best of Both Worlds!

baby buddha with cups

If you love the idea of a wearable pump but need hospital-strength suction, pairing the Baby Buddha Pump with wearable collection cups is a winning combination!

The Baby Buddha is a powerful portable pump that provides stronger suction than most wearables, while the cups let you go hands-free.

Here is my full review of the Baby Buddha Breast Pump

Pros:

✔️ Strong Suction – Much stronger than traditional wearables.
✔️ Affordable – This breast pump is under $200, and it’s usually covered by insurance. The cups will add an extra cost, but it still makes it more affordable than both the Eufy and Willow Go pumps.
✔️ Compatible with Most Wearable CupsUse Baby Buddha’s cups, or other options such as Legendairy Milk or Freemie for a fully hands-free setup.
✔️ Small, Lightweight Pump Unit – The pump itself is tiny and can be clipped onto your clothing.
✔️ Rechargeable Battery – Lasts for multiple sessions on a single charge.

Cons:

Not Fully Wireless – The pump unit still has tubing connecting to the cups.
Learning Curve – Getting the right suction settings and cup placement takes some trial and error.

💡 Best for: Moms who want the power of an amazing pump while still having a wearable, hands-free option!

Buy BabyBuddha (use TBM for 10% off)

Final Thoughts: Which One is Right for You?

All three of these wearable pumps have helped my clients pump more efficiently while staying mobile. Here’s a quick rundown of which one might be the best fit for you:

  • Choose the Momcozy M5 if you need a budget-friendly, compact pump that gets the job done.
  • Choose the Eufy Pro if you want quiet, powerful suction with app tracking and an easy-to-use design.
  • Choose the Willow Go if you need a leak-resistant pump with strong suction and the ability to pump in any position.
  • Choose BabyBuddha if you want a high-quality pump that you can usually regularly that doubles as a werable (use code TBM for 10% offf)

Wearable pumps have come a long way, and while they may not fully replace a primary pump for some moms, they offer an incredible level of convenience. If you’re looking for a way to pump without being tied down, these three pumps are some of the best options available today.
