Willow Go Review by an IBCLC: Is This Wearable Pump Worth It?

BY KATIE CLARK, IBCLC

willow go review

Choosing the right breast pump can make all the difference in your breastfeeding journey, and for moms looking for a wearable, hands-free option, the Willow Go is a game-changer. Designed for busy moms who need flexibility, this pump offers strong suction, app connectivity, and a discreet design that lets you pump on the go—whether working, running errands, or just chasing little ones around the house.

This is one of my favorite wearable pumps due to the feedback I’ve gotten from many of my clients.

In this review, we’ll discuss the features, pros and cons, real mom experiences, and expert insights to help you decide if the Willow Go is the perfect pump for you.

Overview of the Willow Go

Quick Pros & Cons List

✅ Pros

✔️ Hands-free & wearable – no cords – this is a completely hands-free breast pump
✔️ Strong suction with multiple settings for comfort (though I have one client who said even the lowest setting was too intense for her).
✔️ Compact & discreet – perfect for multitasking. I like the slim profile, which looks more natural under your shirt.
✔️ Easy to clean with minimal parts
✔️ Good battery life – lasts multiple sessions

❌ Cons

Learning curve – takes time to get the right fit – it’s not always straight forward to see how your nipple is fitting into the flange tunnel
Cost – This pump is pricier at over $300. There are other comparable wearable pumps on the market that are less, and I wish Willow would work to make this more affordable.
App connectivity – can be glitchy at times
Limited capacity – holds less milk than some competitors that hold up to 8 ounces per side
Limited Flanges– It has a 21, 24 and 28 hard plastic flange that you can use with it. I do prefer plastic flanges over silicone. But the vast majority of women really aren’t these sizes, so you’re stuck using inserts.

From a Lactation Consultant’s Perspective

What I Like About This Pump

✔️ Strong suction – Not all wearable pumps have great suction, but this one does pack a lot of power
✔️ Great for working moms – allows for discreet pumping due to it’s wireless nature and being slimer
✔️ Minimal parts – easy to clean compared to other pumps
✔️ More affordable than the Willow 3.0 while still being hands-free

⚠️ Potential Concerns

⚠️ Fit issues – Flange size is crucial for comfort and efficiency, and I think with most wearables, getting the right fit can be tricky
⚠️ Not ideal for oversuppliers – Smaller capacity may mean frequent emptying
⚠️ App can be glitchy – May disconnect randomly

🛠 Pro Tips for Best Results

💡 Ensure a proper fit – Work with a lactation consultant to figure out the best flange size for you to ensure you get the best fit
💡 Use massage/vibration – This can improve milk output substantially
💡 Tilt forward slightly when removing – Helps prevent spills

What Real Moms Are Saying

I scoured the Internet to find reviews from moms that have used this pump. As much as I wish I could give you a personal review on it, I am not lactating, so it’s hard to truly review it. Hopefully this will give you some further insight!

Common Praises

“I love the convenience of being able to move around while pumping and it’s much quieter and discreet compared to my momcozy m1s. I can use them at work and no one notices better output compared to momcozy. Not much less then what I get with my wall pump and I can hold my 8 month old with them on and I use 7oz containers for larger pumping sessions”

“Great suction but still gentle”

“Love how discreet and hands-free it is.”

Common Complaints

“My biggest complaint is all the parts have to be COMPLETELY dry before each use. You’ll get no suction otherwise and it’s a pain when you only have one set of parts “

Battery drains faster than expected.”

“Replacement/ second set parts can be hard to find. Stores and their website are constantly out of stock

“App sometimes disconnects mid-session.”

User Hacks & Tips

  • Use a pumping bra for extra security
  • Pair with manual massage to increase milk flow
  • Experiment with suction levels to find the most comfortable setting

Where to Buy the Willow Go

🔗 Amazon – Check for discounts & bundle deals
🔗 Target – Often includes in-store pickup options
🔗 Manufacturer Website – Direct support & warranty benefits

Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?

I think the Willow Go is a solid breast pump choice. It tends to have good power and not give out after a few weeks or months of use, and my clients who use it usually have good things to say. I know one of my clients felt it was too intense, though, so if you are extra sensitive, that’s something to keep in mind.

If you’re a pumping mom who needs larger milk storage, you might want to consider another option that has a larger capacity, such as the Imani by Legendairy Milk which holds up to 7 ounces.

I also think this pump is pretty pricey for what it offers. Honestly, I feel like you’re paying mostly for the Willow name. It is reliable, though, and the overall good reviews may justify the expense for some moms!

Overall Rating: 4/5
