How long after weaning should I wait to invest in some nice new bras?

I breastfed my daughter for 17 months and she weaned herself. It’s been about a month and my old bras from before pregnancy/nursing and my nursing bras just don’t fit right. How long should I wait until I go ahead and invest in some new bras?

Hi, Katie (great name :)!

Navigating post breastfeeding life can be tricky, as everyone is different. There isn’t a ton of solid research in when your breasts will settle into their new “normal”, but here’s some information that might be helpful:

-After you wean, your breasts may seem a bit empty or floppy. You may be in this stage now! This is normal, and they generally should fill out a bit more. From what I’ve read, it can take 6 months to more than a few years for some of the fatty breast tissue to return. However, I don’t think you need to wait that long to get a new bra :)
-Most everything I’ve read (and what I’ve experienced myself) say that three months post-weaning is a pretty safe bet. I think that wait another month or so should be a good time to get some new bras. Good luck!

If anyone reading this has some thoughts, feel free to chime in as a comment.

Thank you so much! I’ll probably hold off another couple months to buy some new bras! I love all of your content and I so wish I had found you earlier in my nursing journey!
